Job Description
Reference: Electrician
Electrical Installations & Maintenance
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Perform electrical installations for residential, commercial, or industrial buildings (depending on company focus).
- Install and repair circuit breakers, transformers, distribution boards, conduits, and lighting systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
Fault Finding & Repairs
- Diagnose electrical faults and troubleshoot system issues.
- Repair malfunctioning wiring, components, or equipment.
- Test electrical systems using appropriate tools and instruments.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all electrical work complies with SANS regulations and safety standards.
- Prepare and issue Certificates of Compliance (CoC) where required.
- Follow safety procedures, risk assessments, and lock-out/tag-out practices.
Technical Support & Documentation
- Interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and contractors about project progress and issues.
Tools & Equipment
- Operate and maintain electrical tools and testing equipment (multimeters, insulation testers, etc.).
- Ensure tools are kept in good working order and used safely.
Candidate Requirements
Experience Requirements
- 2–5 years hands-on experience as an Electrician (depending on the level of the position).
- Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial environments.
- Strong background in installations, fault-finding, and repairs.
- Experience issuing CoCs is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of SANS 10142 and related regulations.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12.
- Qualified Electrician (Red Seal / Trade Test) – essential.
- Wireman’s License or ability to issue CoC – an advantage.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit to handle manual tasks.
- Valid driver’s license (preferred).
