Vacancy: Social Worker – Assisting Minors (Cape Town)

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape

Contract Type – Fixed Term

We are a non-profit organisation committed to the safeguarding, development, and empowerment of minors through structured support programmes. We are seeking a qualified and passionate Social Worker to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing psychosocial support, intervention, and safeguarding services to vulnerable children and youth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide counselling, psychosocial support, and crisis intervention for minors.
  • Conduct home visits, needs assessments, and family support interventions.
  • Implement and monitor child protection and safeguarding protocols in line with the Children’s Act.
  • Collaborate with schools, community organisations, health services, and other stakeholders to provide holistic support.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records in compliance with POPIA and regulatory frameworks.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate service providers where necessary.
  • Participate in community outreach and education initiatives relating to child protection and wellbeing.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW).
  • Registration with SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions) – proof of good standing required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and youth, preferably in a community or non-profit environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the Children’s Act, Child Justice Act, and related safeguarding legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport will be advantageous.
