🎯 Role Overview
Lead and modernize campus library services with a digital-first approach. Integrate information literacy into curricula, support research and teaching, and ensure seamless access to digital resources. Manage the institutional repository and promote open access initiatives.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
Digital Resources & Systems
- Manage access to e-resources, discovery tools, and off-campus systems.
- Monitor usage and guide renewals based on cost-effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot access issues and ensure platform accessibility.
User Support & Instruction
- Provide reference support (in-person and online).
- Assist with research tools and citation managers.
- Co-design embedded information literacy content.
- Create tutorials and materials for hybrid learners.
Digital Scholarship & Open Research
- Support research data management and open access publishing.
- Manage institutional repository (metadata, ORCID, deposits).
- Track engagement and submit termly reports.
Collection Development & Liaison
- Align collections with curriculum needs.
- Use evidence to guide renewals, trials, and updates.
- Evaluate and train staff on new tools.
Governance & Compliance
- Uphold PoPIA, copyright, and licensing standards.
- Maintain records, SOPs, and contribute to policy development.
- Provide cross-campus support and assist during extended hours.
Professional Engagement
- Lead staff development in digital and library skills.
- Contribute to strategic planning and advisory groups.
- Promote inclusivity, accessibility, and innovation.

A proactive, digitally-savvy librarian with expertise in e-resource management, information literacy instruction, and research support. Passionate about advancing higher education in a tech-driven environment.
🎓 Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library & Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent (NQF Level 9).
- Experience managing digital resources in academic or research libraries.
- Familiarity with ERMS, link resolvers, and discovery tools.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
🌟 Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of licensing and copyright for digital content.
- Experience with digital scholarship tools, repositories, or LMS.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design.
