We’re searching for a Business Operations Manager in Cape Town to lead our operations with an entrepreneurial spirit, combining financial expertise with operational hustle.
Role Overview
We need a versatile leader who started in accounting but now thrives in operations, ready to run our business like it’s their own. You’ll keep our books in check, manage P&L, negotiate deals, and push our SMB operations to new heights. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role for someone who gets things done, no matter the task.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle bookkeeping and ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor and manage the profit and loss (P&L) to drive profitability.
- Run day-to-day operations, stepping into any role needed to keep things moving.
- Build and maintain strong relationships through effective vendor and client negotiations.
- Use financial insights to make smart decisions that grow the business.
- Tackle operational and financial challenges with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.
Requirements
- Background in accounting (e.g., bookkeeping, financial analysis, or controlling) with a transition to operational roles.
- 5+ years of operational experience, ideally in an SMB or tech setting.
- Strong business instincts, with proven negotiation and strategic skills.
- Direct experience managing financial records and P&L statements.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, ready to handle any task a business owner would.
- Stellar communication and leadership abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (preferred).
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with tech, customer feedback, or online review platforms.
- Understanding of Cape Town’s business landscape.
- Proficiency in tools like Excel, Xero, Sage, or CRM software.
