Fleet Manager – Job Description

  • Wash Bay Teams (where applicable)

1. Position Summary

The Fleet Manager is the strategic and operational lead for all mobile and static fleet resources at Waste Carriers (Pty) Ltd. This includes overseeing trucks, trailers, LDVs, and bin infrastructure across all projects. The role ensures full lifecycle management from acquisition to disposal, while integrating tracking technology, compliance controls, preventative maintenance, and driver accountability. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, able to understand mechanical systems and diagnostics, and committed to upskilling operational personnel, including truck assistants and drivers, through a dedicated training program led by the in-house Driver Trainer.

3. Required Qualifications

– Matric (required), with Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Fleet/Transport Management, or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
– Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in heavy-duty fleet management, preferably in waste, logistics, or plant-intensive sectors.
– Strong technical background; mechanical systems, diagnostics, hydraulics, bin loading mechanisms, and repair processes.
– Proficient in Microsoft Excel, OneDrive/SharePoint, FleetCam, Ctrack, and digital fleet tools.
– Valid SA driver’s license Code 08 (Code 10 or 14 highly preferred).
