Job Description

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Lead, develop, implement, maintain, and improve group safety strategy, policies, and procedures
  • Implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures across the site
  • Provide operational guidance and training on all health and safety aspects
  • Facilitate and conduct risk assessments (HIRA) and site inspections
  • Conduct site inductions for employees, contractors, and stakeholders (OHS training in Distribution Centre)
  • Ensure statutory compliance in occupational health, safety, welfare, training, and reporting
  • Compile daily, weekly, monthly, and event-based risk and safety reports
  • Collaborate with engineering/maintenance teams to ensure machinery safety
  • Review and update TFG OHS files and Distribution Centre boards
  • Support, develop, and deliver health and safety training programs
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations and prepare reports
  • Report Section 24 incidents to provincial director as per GAR 6
  • Ensure timely reporting of reportable and disabling injuries to the group
  • Manage NCRs and update group registers
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and training
  • Collaborate with departments to promote a culture of safety awareness
  • Prepare safety communications aligned with group policy
  • Stop unsafe acts or processes that pose risks
  • Ensure contractors meet legal requirements under TFG standards
  • Implement TFG Risk Reduction Strategy (RRI) and report to group
  • Draw up site safety objectives and monitor programs aligned with ISO 4001 guidelines
  • Assist Site Risk Manager with site security duties
  • Ensure safety teams and legal appointments are current and updated
  • Facilitate medical evaluations with site management
  • Oversee risk assessment, control, policy development, incident management, training, awareness, monitoring, reporting, emergency preparedness, compliance, and liaison

Experience & Qualifications

  • National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or equivalent (preferred)
  • SAMTRAC certification (minimum requirement)
  • 3–5 years’ proven experience in Health & Safety within logistics, manufacturing, warehousing, engineering, chemicals, or construction environments
  • Experience in reporting and emergency response planning
  • Familiarity with electronic platforms (ISOMetrics, Gensuite) advantageous
  • Technical qualification/experience in CCTV, intrusion, fire alarm, or access control systems advantageous
  • Registration with SAIOSH or similar professional body

  • Strong knowledge of safety legislation and manufacturing safety standards
  • Excellent observation and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and report writing abilities
  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis expertise
  • Ability to train and influence employees at all levels
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, safety management software)
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
