Job Description
Lesedi is seeking a technically skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team focused on complex piping systems and industrial plant design. The role spans from conceptual design through commissioning and handover, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review mechanical designs (concept to detailed phase)
- Perform thermal hydraulic analyses and generate P&IDs
- Size and specify equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.)
- Conduct 3D model reviews and select piping materials
- Prepare procurement specs, evaluate vendor proposals
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines and project teams
- Perform site inspections, technical signoffs, and quality reviews
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (ECSA registration preferred)
- 5+ years in industrial plant design
- Experience in Mining, Power Generation, and EPC projects
- Site experience beneficial
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in design software (Caesar II, Prokon, AVEVA, Thermoflex, AFT)
- Strong technical writing, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Knowledge of industry codes, commissioning, and procurement processes
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities
- Commitment to quality, deadlines, and continuous learning
